Antalis Review 2016

Best in Show & Best Litho Print awards. Nice gongs!

At The Review 2016 awards event – sponsored by paper merchant Antalis – Opal were recognised with two print awards.

Firstly, we were honoured to win the award for Best Litho Print for our production of Irreconcilable Truths, the three volume Limited Edition retrospective of photographer Don McCullin‘s life’s work. Then, if that wasn't exciting enough, to cap off a thoroughly thrilling evening we also went on to win Best in Show: Print award, also for Irreconcilable Truths.

Special thanks for our involvement in the project go to the incredible team at The English Group. Opal were honoured two years ago to be given the responsibility for the printing of almost 1500 pages across the three volumes, and the reproduction of in excess of 600 of Don McCullin’s iconic photographs. In the design category, and for the second year running, The English Group were recognised with the Book Design Of The Year award for Irreconcilable Truths and also won the award for Best Design On Recycled Paper for the promotional monograph for the Don McCullin publication.

Thanks must also be given to both Diamond Print Services for the bookbinding – a bigger task than they had ever envisaged – and to Phil Schulke of Quality Art Reproductions for his beautiful handmade presentation boxes.

I would also like to thank Antalis for their contribution towards ensuring that we were able to use the very best selection of papers in this publication, and for the awards that the project has now been recognised with. Oh, and not forgetting a fantastic evening we were all treated to at Village Underground, London. Great burgers!!
